Recruitment Process Outsourcing and Assessment Centres

When a major UK B2B service provider needed to undertake a far-reaching business restructure, they approached Ortolan Group for help in identifying the right talent, from within and externally, to help them address the considerable challenges involved.

In particular, they needed to reduce the layers of management, putting in place a smaller, highly talented team, with the skills and experience to deliver the operational changes demanded by the restructure.

They turned to Ortolan because we had been providing them with a full-service outsourced recruitment service for some years and a high degree of mutual trust and respect had been developed between Ortolan and the client’s HR team.

To help ensure a comprehensive and independent process for selecting the best people to move the business forward, Ortolan Group was engaged to attract and qualify promising external candidates and to assess the suitability of these candidates, alongside selected internal candidates.

To this end, in addition to our standard candidate search activity and in close co-operation with our client, we developed and then delivered a series of challenging assessment centres designed to test candidate aptitude against a range of required skills and knowledge. We ran these independently, providing formal written reports for each candidate, identifying strengths and weaknesses. The assessments took place at various locations around the UK and Ortolan created and managed every aspect of these including the logistics, candidate briefing and the range of bespoke assessment exercises which we developed for this particular project.

For the inevitable redundancies that arise from such a major restructuring operation we subsequently provided individual one-to-one outplacement sessions to help individuals plan their next career stage.
